Thank you for all your help delivering our Mom's casket to Shawnee, Okla. last week.  The head panel held up delivery a little, but since you had to order it made .... it seemed Mom got something extra special, just for her.
 
One of the funeral workers asked questions about where we got the casket, and commented on what a good deal we received.  He said our $1,525 casket wholesales for over $1,000... and Gaskills charges over $2,500 for the exact same one.
 
A few years ago I overpaid on my Dad's casket, even though I knew about Funeral Depot .... just too timid to give it a try then.  But an additional $1,000 is a lot of money.  I think everyone is entitled to profit from their business ... but 150% profit is damned near un-American here in Okla.
 
I am spreading the word, and a lot of folks I know are asking for details.  Thanks again!

Our family has been busy sending thank you notes to many friends and family....and we wanted to make sure that we did not neglect to send a note to you to express our thanks.

We were fortunate to have a couple of weeks to plan our Dad's funeral.  However, it became evident that it was going to cost us more than his life insurance would cover.  We decided to check out the Internet for information and costs of ordering the casket ourselves.  This led us to your website and the decision to give you a call. 

As you know, we ordered the Platinum #CS18 with a panel of the Marine emblem.  We were so pleased and proud when we were able to see it at the funeral home.  With the beautiful, embroidered Marine emblem, the American Flag folded in the corner of the casket, and a casket spray of red roses and white snaps, we could not have been more pleased.

Steve....in our estimation, you went more than an extra mile to help us "negotiate" the cost of a traditional service and walked us through the ordering of the casket and working with the local funeral director....all on a weekend!   We know you were hoping we would order a casket from you, but you had no guarantee.  When all was said and done....we saved approximately $2,500...and did it honestly and with dignity.  (We know Dad would have been so proud!)

Thank you so much for the professional service you provided to our family.  I called you five or six times within a five minute period and you were very understanding and knowledgeable.  To those reading this letter, my sister and I had to plan a funeral for two different states, AZ and MI for our mother.  Because my husband had seen an expose about the funeral business,  I told my sister I didn't want to pay a ridiculous amount of money for the casket and I didn't want to buy it at the funeral home.  I tried to get one in MI at a casket company here to be sent to AZ but that didn't work out.  My mother was alive at the time I was shopping for a casket, but we knew it was just a matter of a few days, so I was fairly lucid.  When my contact in MI told me she couldn't get the casket to AZ, my mother had just passed.  My sister went to the funeral home in AZ and found the perfect casket-a Batesville for $3,400! She know I would be upset, but it was the one she wanted, so I told her to ask if they could lower the price, but get it anyway.  Thye lowered it by $300, not charging for the viewing in AZ.  
In the meantime, I had gone online trying to find a 24 hour casket delivery and  came across Funeral Depot.  As previously mentioned, I called Chris a number of times, about delivery, price, the casket, the delivery time and each time he was very patient with me.  While I was calling Chris repeatedly, the funeral home was writing the contract up for my sister. Just as my sister wass about to sign for the $3,400 casket, I told her to stop, because the Amethyst Casket by Batesville would be in her city the next day!   I have told everyone and will tell my co-workers when I return to work, about this wonderful experience during the saddest time of my life.  Trust me even though you don't know me, by purchasing the casket at Funeral Depot it will help with the cost of the funeral.  My mother left us in the position of being able to afford that casket, but we were able to put the $1,7! 00 we saved to better use.
When I went to the funeral home here in MI, and relayed the story to the funeral director, she told us Batesviille Caskets are the Cadillac of caskets.  That was so fitting for our mother, because she was at least the Cadillac of mothers, and she always bought the best of everything! 
We understand that funeral homes provide a service and to that end, they are in the business to make money.  It's the price gouging during a time when a family is not lucid that bothers me.  Once again, Funeral Depot is defintely that way to go to purchase a casket.

Recently my grandmother passed away having terminal cancer. Unfortunately, with health care pricing, we were not going to be able to afford the casket in which she requested.

After doing some research, we contacted Funeral Depot 2 weeks before her passing to find out about your services. In trying to preplan her funeral plans, we were constantly told by the funeral home not to purchase from an outside source. Every imaginable scenario was thrown out by the funeral home (scratch n' dent, poor quality, etc). They also tried to cheapen the experience by stating "you're buying a precious memory off the Internet?". However, due to my grandmother's wishes and our available monies, we chose Funeral Depot.

First, let me tell your potential customers, a death is always a very stressful time period. You are having to make expensive choices at a very emotional time. Funeral homes, though they are generally there to provide support, they are also there to make a profit. We bought the exact casket through Funeral Depot and saved $2,000. We are using the monies saved to present to my grandmother's great grandchild (who will be born in another month) and to her church. Again, it's the same exact casket. It was shipped from the same distributor, in the same truck the funeral home received another caskets in. There is no difference except cost!

Another thanks to Chris at Funeral Depot... Our funeral home had informed my mother, during this emotional time, that due to her purchasing the casket elsewhere, she would have to unload the casket and inspect upon delivery. We were told to meet a truck between 4-5pm at the funeral home to help unload. Needless to say, Chris contacted the Funeral Home regarding state funeral laws. We didn't unload a casket and we had no other issues again!

Your services were simply incredible during our time of need. I am happy to provide any future references regarding your company or personally assist any of your customers.

I wanted to let you know the peace of mind our family received and our pleasure at the quality of service and your products at such a difficult time in our lives.   When our Mother passed away, we were unaware of your site and, to be quite honest, we felt comfortable with the funeral home providing all the arrangements.    Our Mother's funeral cost about $15,000; the vault, casket and the marker together cost $8000.    At the time we chalked it up to the cost of a funeral and we were not very educated about the law and what choices there really were.

 When our Father passed away nearly two years later, we made several inquiries and determined that we could save a substantial amount of money by purchasing through your service.   What seems like a joke at first -- caskets via the internet -- really is not one when you consider the high cost of a funeral.    Let's face it, we don't comparison shop for these items because of the morbidness, timidity or relative use for the products.  

 After checking out your website, contacting the BBB and reading your testimonials, I contacted your company three times at various hours of the day and night to ensure you were actually there.  Not only were you there, the quality of service and phone manner was terrific and you were able to educate me about the process in advance of a need.

When our father died, we called you and placed an order for a hardwood casket and vault.   The logistics were explained and the products arrived on time.   We did not have to double check with the funeral home or the cemetery.   Peace of mind was had for the family and the quality of the casket was top-notch.     The vaults were the same (Wilbert Continental) and the prices about $800 apart when compared to the Cemetery.   The casket we chose was very similar to my Mothers and the casket price was $3,000 less than the funeral home price.    Needless to say we will be coming back in due time for the marker.

My father-in-law died unexpected with no life insurance, leaving my husband and me to shoulder the financial burden of his funeral (which we did gladly).  However, with the average cost of a funeral in California somewhere in the neighborhood of $6500-$7000, we were nervous about the debt we were to undertake. 

After meeting with the funeral home without me, my husband okayed a casket order that was their cheapest: $2495.  That evening, I left a message for them to cancel that order and I began an online search for caskets.  I was pleased to find The Funeral Depot and even more pleased that I could purchase a decent casket for less than half the price ($865), with a guaranteed next day delivery.  So, at 11:00pm on a Sunday evening, I called and ordered the casket.

Like many people, my not wanting to believe my mother would ever pass away kept me from learning what I needed to know before that fateful day two weeks ago. So when the time came, I was way behind the learning curve and had to get smart in a hurry.  I jumped on the net to learn what I needed to know to prepare myself for the unsavory prospect of dealing with a funeral director.  While searching for a list of actions associated with internment, I fortuitously stumbled onto your web page.  After perusing your page, its FAQ’s and key links, I called you with some remaining questions which you answered to my satisfaction.

I was especially satisfied to learn that the casket and vault I purchased from you would come from the same local facility the funeral director would get it from, and we were literally eliminating the middle man and attendant expenses.  I then went back to your page and chose the casket and vault that were right for my mother.  As you promised, they were delivered in a timely matter following your coordination with the funeral director.  In addition, your recommendation that I rent a tent and synthetic turf for the grave site enhanced the dignity of the proceedings and protected the casket and congregation from the rain.  

The entire transaction was flawlessly executed and all the services were professionally rendered.  On behalf of my siblings, thank you and your associates for caring.  Your professionalism helped make a very traumatic event less so.  For not only did we save a considerable amount of money, but I personally was spared the anguish of being escorted through a showroom full of caskets and vaults by a funeral director.  Instead I was able to make a very difficult and personal decision in the comfort of my own home.

I just wanted to thank you for the great prices and expedient delivery on your caskets and vaults. Before I found Funeral Depot on the Internet, the cemetery of my choice would have sold me a lesser quality casket and vault for a much higher price. However it didn't stop there, Dean the coordinator for Funeral Depot is the most understanding and helpful person I ever had the pleasure of speaking with. Dean's attention to all my needs was incredible. The beautiful Wilbert Bronze Triune vault has associated with it a method of lowering the vault gently into the ground at the final resting-place with family and friends called "The Wilbert Way".  The cemetery should have been, but was unaware of this and was going to do the interment the regular way.  Dean patiently stayed on the phone until I was on cemetery grounds to confirm that I wanted "The Wilbert Way". Once I did confirm that, he made sure it was done.  The cemetery also charged me a $215.00 dollar charge for not buying the casket and vault from them.  I asked Dean about this and he quickly responded by notifying the cemetery that this was against the federal trade commission guidelines.  My money was quickly refunded, and I did not have to do or say anything.  I cannot thank Funeral Depot's Dean  for making a sorrowful time in my life a comfortable task.

Thank you for being so prompt with the mailing of the Air Force urn that we ordered from you. The urn was lovely, it was an Air Force funeral and many of the retirees asked us where we got it.

I was fortunate to have discovered your website on the internet. I wanted my father to have a decent burial but could not afford it. My family suggested a wooden casket which I was totally against it because it cost too much in the funeral home.  Well, to make a long story short, everyone was pleased with the purchase I made. I told all of my relatives about my internet purchase and they could not believe that such a transaction could take place. In March of 2001, I had the unfortunate experience of having to plan my uncle's funeral. The first close death in my family, it is by far the most painful thing I've ever had to do.  Since his death was a work related accident, I had some time to do research to help keep the costs of his funeral down as a financial burden was the last thing my aunt needed. 
 
While searching through the web, I stumbled across Funeral Depot.com.  What a God - send this was.  I called the number in defense-mode (after hearing horrible stories on TV and from other's experience, I was NOT going to be taken advantage of) and spoke to Dean.  Dean was extremely helpful and most of all, not sales-y.  He listened well and acted quickly.  I was then connected to Joe Negron who handled the transaction and Joe was also an angel in the process.  He was 3 hours ahead of my time zone, but it didn't matter - he remained so willing to help with honest advice that was not for the betterment of his company, but for our family.  He advised what my rights were as a consumer as well as some sales tactics not to fall for. 

Best of all, he was confident that their pricing would be the best around, but let me do the research on my own to prove it.  Once I did and selected the casket models my aunt preferred, Joe quoted my Funeral Depot's prices first- he didn't try to beat whatever price I got - he honestly gave his pricing first which said a lot about the way they do business.  The mortuary we selected knew I was price comparing and also said they were confident that their (the mortuary's) prices were the best, but to give them a chance to beat the 'best' price I found. Funeral Depot.com's prices came in on average $300-$400 less per casket (not including what we saved on no tax or shipping!).  The mortuary immediately said, "I'll give it to you for $100 less!" at which I couldn't agree as I told them they had the opportunity to offer me their best price which obviously wasn't.   
The service I received at Funeral Depot was true 100% customer service which is extremely important during a time like this.  I could only hope they will always stay in business for it is the one referral I'll always be proud to make.  It made the biggest difference in my experience of having to plan and coordinate a funeral.  There's very little that can comfort a family when you lose someone you love - so it means a lot when  you can trust a vendor for something so important like this.
 
On behalf of my aunt and the rest of my family, thank you for the Outstanding value you offer both in product and service to those in need. We wish more companies in your line of business would do so.
