Chris,
Thank you for all your help delivering
our Mom's casket to Shawnee, Okla. last week. The head panel held up
delivery a little, but since you had to order it made .... it seemed Mom
got something extra special, just for her.
One of the funeral workers asked
questions about where we got the casket, and commented on what a good
deal we received. He said our $1,525 casket wholesales for over
$1,000... and Gaskills charges over $2,500 for the exact same one.
A few years ago I overpaid on my Dad's
casket, even though I knew about Funeral Depot .... just too timid to
give it a try then. But an additional $1,000 is a lot of money. I
think everyone is entitled to profit from their business ... but 150%
profit is damned near un-American here in Okla.
I am spreading the word, and a lot of
folks I know are asking for details. Thanks again!

Dear Steve and Chris: Our family has been busy sending thank you notes to many friends and family....and we wanted to make sure that we did not neglect to send a note to you to express our thanks. We were fortunate to have a couple of weeks to plan our Dad's funeral. However, it became evident that it was going to cost us more than his life insurance would cover. We decided to check out the Internet for information and costs of ordering the casket ourselves. This led us to your website and the decision to give you a call. As you know, we ordered the Platinum #CS18 with a panel of the Marine emblem. We were so pleased and proud when we were able to see it at the funeral home. With the beautiful, embroidered Marine emblem, the American Flag folded in the corner of the casket, and a casket spray of red roses and white snaps, we could not have been more pleased. Steve....in our estimation, you went more than an extra mile to help us "negotiate" the cost of a traditional service and walked us through the ordering of the casket and working with the local funeral director....all on a weekend! We know you were hoping we would order a casket from you, but you had no guarantee. When all was said and done....we saved approximately $2,500...and did it honestly and with dignity. (We know Dad would have been so proud!) Steve....thank you for being so helpful in ordering the panel and making sure we were 100% pleased. Thank you for working with us until we knew what we wanted. You both made this special and sad time a lot easier. Sincerely, Paula Heibner for the Noble Schutz Family |

Dear Chris,
Thank you so much for the
professional service you provided to our family. I called you five or
six times within a five minute period and you were very understanding
and knowledgeable. To those reading this letter, my sister and I had to
plan a funeral for two different states, AZ and MI for our mother.
Because my husband had seen an expose about the funeral business, I
told my sister I didn't want to pay a ridiculous amount of money for the
casket and I didn't want to buy it at the funeral home. I tried to get
one in MI at a casket company here to be sent to AZ but that didn't work
out. My mother was alive at the time I was shopping for a casket, but
we knew it was just a matter of a few days, so I was fairly lucid. When
my contact in MI told me she couldn't get the casket to AZ, my mother
had just passed. My sister went to the funeral home in AZ and found the
perfect casket-a Batesville for $3,400! She know I would be upset, but
it was the one she wanted, so I told her to ask if they could lower the
price, but get it anyway. Thye lowered it by $300, not charging for the
viewing in AZ.
In the meantime, I had gone online
trying to find a 24 hour casket delivery and came across Funeral
Depot. As previously mentioned, I called Chris a number of times, about
delivery, price, the casket, the delivery time and each time he was very
patient with me. While I was calling Chris repeatedly, the funeral home
was writing the contract up for my sister. Just as my sister wass about
to sign for the $3,400 casket, I told her to stop, because the Amethyst
Casket by Batesville would be in her city the next day! I have
told everyone and will tell my co-workers when I return to work, about
this wonderful experience during the saddest time of my life. Trust me
even though you don't know me, by purchasing the casket at Funeral Depot
it will help with the cost of the funeral. My mother left us in the
position of being able to afford that casket, but we were able to put
the $1,7! 00 we saved to better use.
When I went to the funeral home here
in MI, and relayed the story to the funeral director, she told us
Batesviille Caskets are the Cadillac of caskets. That was so fitting
for our mother, because she was at least the Cadillac of mothers, and
she always bought the best of everything!
We understand that funeral homes provide a service and to that
end, they are in the business to make money. It's the price gouging
during a time when a family is not lucid that bothers me. Once again,
Funeral Depot is defintely that way to go to purchase a casket.
Sincerely,
Patricia Spence, Redford, MI

Dear Funeral Depot: ======================================================================
I WOULD LIKE TO THANK YOU FOR THE WONDERFUL SERVICE YOU PROVIDED OUR FAMILY. From the very first contact to the final delivery everything was very professional and timely. The Casket purchased was the Batesville Amethyst. The funeral home had one available to view which made my choice very easy. Their price was 3295.00 your price delivered was 1645.00. Due to Unavailability in the local area I was informed that it was flown in to Portland and then delivered to the Funeral home. Total elapsed time from time of order to delivery was 36 hrs. It was not ordered until 10 pm. I have informed a min of 30 people of your service. Thank you once again for your Services you have provided approx 1 ½ months of extra living allowances for my FATHER. Terry Conklin Portland, Oregon. =============================================================================
Your company supplied the casket for my
fathers funeral services in November, 2003.
The price was extremely reasonable. There
was a change in plans at the last minute because the services and burial
were being held in another state. You accommodated those changes
admirably even though the time-line involved a weekend. Everything was
as advertised.
My thanks go to Funeral Depot for an
excellent product provided with exceptional customer service.
Sincerely,
Gary L. Gentry Raleigh, NC ===================================================================== Hi Chris: Sorry this has taken me so long. My Husband died on May 12th. I wanted to say how pleased I was with your service and the quality of the Hanover Casket. My Friends and Family were all very impressed. I teach Customer Service at the local College, and wanted to express my appreciation for the excellent service I received, during this most difficult time. I will use you as an example to my students re: "How To Do Business." Sincerely, Bev Martin ======================================================================
To Whom It May Concern: I had contacted your company back in April when my husband was diagnosed with cancer and he died in June. I had viewed a beautiful Mossy Oak Casket online and had emailed you with questions. With reservations about ordering from a company they were not familiar with, the Enders & Shirley Funeral Home, at my persistence, ordered the casket. When it arrived, and my husband was arranged in it, they called me to come in and see him. The casket was absolutely beautiful. It fit my husband's personality perfectly. He was an avid sportsman and he would have been very pleased. We received so many lovely compliments and everyone agreed that it was perfectly beautiful and he would have loved it. It truly helped to ease the pain of our loss knowing that he was laid to rest with such dignity and respect to his character. I just wanted to let you know that I would highly recommend your services to anyone and I appreciate the promptness of your service. I hope God does not plan to take me anytime soon, but if he does, I see that you have a Kentucky Wildcat Casket that would suit me fine! Thank you again. May God Bless you and all who work at your company. Tammy Hardy Resident Relations & AL Marketing Manager ==============================================================
I just want to thank you
all for the compassionate service you provided to our family. When we
first got in touch with you for a casket, my young brother was gravely ill
with only weeks to live and you helped us get organized and were so kind
to us. The casket was really pretty and it was the perfect choice for us.
When the day came that was
Bryan's last, you handled everything smoothly and the
Oxford arrived as
if by magic the next day. There was no problem at all and we want to thank
you for your good words and of course, your excellent service. Linda Hayes ============================================================================== Dear Sirs; I purchased a casket from you recently for my grandfather’s funeral. This was a very short notice funeral as we had a family wedding occurring within a week of his death. Although he wanted to be at my sisters wedding he also wanted us to bury him before the wedding so she would not have to worry about it afterwards. I called you and told you of my situation and you informed me that it would be no problem to ship the casket even though it was the weekend. It was a great comfort to know that we could spend our time taking care of other details of his funeral along with my sisters wedding while not have to worry about what is arguably one of the most stressful portions of a funeral, picking a casket. The casket we purchased was the Breckenridge, and it arrived as ordered, more beautiful than we expected. As my grandfather was a professional wood craftsman his whole life we thought the wood casket would be appropriate for him. It exceeded our expectations and allowed us to have the comfort of knowing he would have approved. Thank you for your help in our time of need and thank you for presenting an alternative for purchasing a casket. Sincerely, James Haynes ====================================================================== Chris, I wanted to let you know the peace of mind our family received and our pleasure at the quality of service and your products at such a difficult time in our lives. When our Mother passed away, we were unaware of your site and, to be quite honest, we felt comfortable with the funeral home providing all the arrangements. Our Mother's funeral cost about $15,000; the vault, casket and the marker together cost $8000. At the time we chalked it up to the cost of a funeral and we were not very educated about the law and what choices there really were. When our Father passed away nearly two years later, we made several inquiries and determined that we could save a substantial amount of money by purchasing through your service. What seems like a joke at first -- caskets via the internet -- really is not one when you consider the high cost of a funeral. Let's face it, we don't comparison shop for these items because of the morbidness, timidity or relative use for the products. After checking out your website, contacting the BBB and reading your testimonials, I contacted your company three times at various hours of the day and night to ensure you were actually there. Not only were you there, the quality of service and phone manner was terrific and you were able to educate me about the process in advance of a need. When our father died, we called you and placed an order for a hardwood casket and vault. The logistics were explained and the products arrived on time. We did not have to double check with the funeral home or the cemetery. Peace of mind was had for the family and the quality of the casket was top-notch. The vaults were the same (Wilbert Continental) and the prices about $800 apart when compared to the Cemetery. The casket we chose was very similar to my Mothers and the casket price was $3,000 less than the funeral home price. Needless to say we will be coming back in due time for the marker. You helped me overcome any doubts the online customer has by the terrific PR work on your home page. Thank you for your service and you can count our family among your supporters and recommenders. Sincerely yours David and Marabeth Murphy ====================================================================== Attn: Chris. ====================================================================== Dear Dean, 05/04/03 My father-in-law died unexpected with no life insurance, leaving my husband and me to shoulder the financial burden of his funeral (which we did gladly). However, with the average cost of a funeral in California somewhere in the neighborhood of $6500-$7000, we were nervous about the debt we were to undertake. After meeting with the funeral home without me, my husband okayed a casket order that was their cheapest: $2495. That evening, I left a message for them to cancel that order and I began an online search for caskets. I was pleased to find The Funeral Depot and even more pleased that I could purchase a decent casket for less than half the price ($865), with a guaranteed next day delivery. So, at 11:00pm on a Sunday evening, I called and ordered the casket. The next day I was informed by your office that the casket I ordered was not in stock in California, but that an upgraded casket in the same color would be provided AT NO ADDITIONAL COST. I appreciated the service I received from your office and the fact that I could concentrate on being there for my husband instead of worrying about the details of the funeral. I was surprised when someone at the funeral commented on how beautiful the casket was, and I was once again pleased with your company. I wanted to thank you for providing such a vital service to this country. I've told numerous friends about my experience with your business, and you can bet we'll keep you in mind the next time we're faced with funeral preparations. I hope my testimony is strong enough to encourage those nervous about buying a casket in a less than traditional way that you stand behind your word and are worthy of their trust. With that, please know you are free to use every word of what I've written to showcase the excellent service you provide. Sincerely, Sherri White Galt, California ============================================================================== Dear Dean, ============================================================================== Dean, Sincerely Deanna Cook of Philadelphia, PA ====================================================================== Dear Dean, I would like to thank you for seeing that my husbands casket came on
time. My husband saw this casket on line and loved it. He showed
everyone the picture and gave everyone your web address. I was hesitant
on ordering the casket on line but after talking to you I felt comfortable
that the casket would be as described and would arrive in time. The funeral parlor was even impressed with the casket and the
guaranteed delivery. My husband's funeral was a hit just what he wanted.
And I was honored that all the people that attended loved the casket (The
Race Is Over) and gave them your site address with pleasure. Thank you
for making his funeral exactly what he wanted. And if anyone out there
is on the fence about ordering feel confident satisfaction is guaranteed. THANKYOU Roberta Simonelli Smith and Neil Shough ====================================================================== Dean ======================================================================
Dean, ========================================================================================= Dear Dean: Our family was very skeptical about ordering a casket on-line. After researching several on-line companies, we decided to place our order for a casket with your company. We were nervous about delivery to the funeral home, the timeliness and condition of the purchase. We are contacting you to thank you for being honorable in all that you said to us. The casket arrived as you said it would: on time and in perfect condition. Thank you for your service. We are sharing with others our very positive experience with your company. As all know, it is a very difficult time for families and you really helped us when we needed consideration and care. Again, many thanks. Sincerely, K. Reilly Portland Oregan ========================================================================================= Dean, Like many people, my not wanting to believe my mother would ever pass away kept me from learning what I needed to know before that fateful day two weeks ago. So when the time came, I was way behind the learning curve and had to get smart in a hurry. I jumped on the net to learn what I needed to know to prepare myself for the unsavory prospect of dealing with a funeral director. While searching for a list of actions associated with internment, I fortuitously stumbled onto your web page. After perusing your page, its FAQ’s and key links, I called you with some remaining questions which you answered to my satisfaction. I was especially satisfied to learn that the casket and vault I purchased from you would come from the same local facility the funeral director would get it from, and we were literally eliminating the middle man and attendant expenses. I then went back to your page and chose the casket and vault that were right for my mother. As you promised, they were delivered in a timely matter following your coordination with the funeral director. In addition, your recommendation that I rent a tent and synthetic turf for the grave site enhanced the dignity of the proceedings and protected the casket and congregation from the rain. The entire transaction was flawlessly executed and all the services were professionally rendered. On behalf of my siblings, thank you and your associates for caring. Your professionalism helped make a very traumatic event less so. For not only did we save a considerable amount of money, but I personally was spared the anguish of being escorted through a showroom full of caskets and vaults by a funeral director. Instead I was able to make a very difficult and personal decision in the comfort of my own home. Fortunately, notwithstanding the federal law which prohibits funeral directors from refusing or charging more to use caskets and vaults procured from a third party source, the director we used was very professional and graciously accepted my choices. Your professionalism, and that of our funeral director and his staff, combined to ensure a dignified internment for a very deserving woman and helped ease the burden for her grieving family. Sincerely, Gene Kurtz World of Thanks to you and your staff, ======================================================================
====================================================================== Dean, I have told many people about your site and wish you the very best of luck with your business. Yours was a much needed service. Thank you for helping to make my husband's funeral services so memorable to everyone who participated. Everything went just as smoothly as you had indicated it would. Joe was retired from the Navy. When I stumbled upon your site and decided to check out prices (I had never had to do this before and I knew that I would need to purchase a casket soon), I was amazed to see the Navy casket. It is absolutely beautiful. Many people at the Visitation told me how much they liked it. There was an audible intake of breath when the flag was removed at the gravesite services and all could see the magnificent coffin. This being a Navy town, everyone wanted to know where I purchased it. No one had ever seen anything like it (nor had I). I returned to work last week and was still getting compliments and questions about it. Why on earth would a casket need to be plain? The Art caskets allow people to express something about the recently deceased's personality. Thank you for everything. I will continue to be one of your best supporters by telling anyone who will listen about your site. Pat D'Agosta =========================================================================================
Hello Dean,
Thanks again, ====================================================================== Dean, I would like to thank you on behalf of my family for the beautiful casket you provided for my father's funeral. As you know, I was skeptical at first about the whole process of purchasing the casket separately from the funeral arrangements which my family had chosen to make with a local funeral home. Both they and your company provided a coordinated effort that appeared to everyone as a single, seamless arrangement. The only difference is that they quoted a price for an oak casket that was a few hundred dollars more expensive--a price that my family did not have to pay. Many people commented on the beautiful casket, and it was as close to what I had discerned to be my father's wishes as we could have hoped. I am sure he would have been appreciative as well that my mother saved some expense. I wish you good fortune as you help others deliver on their loved ones wishes and avoid unnecessary costs in doing so. Best wishes. Bob Tevis ========================================================================================== Dear Dean I wanted to thank you and your organization for the assistance and excellent service provided in our time of need. The website was very helpful in helping us choose a casket that met everyone's wishes. The service, on time delivery and cost savings in buying the casket from Funeral Depot was well worth the decision to buy online. Sincerely, Deepak Plaha (California) ====================================================================== Dear Dean and Funeral Depot Staff, I just wanted to thank you for the great prices and expedient delivery on your caskets and vaults. Before I found Funeral Depot on the Internet, the cemetery of my choice would have sold me a lesser quality casket and vault for a much higher price. However it didn't stop there, Dean the coordinator for Funeral Depot is the most understanding and helpful person I ever had the pleasure of speaking with. Dean's attention to all my needs was incredible. The beautiful Wilbert Bronze Triune vault has associated with it a method of lowering the vault gently into the ground at the final resting-place with family and friends called "The Wilbert Way". The cemetery should have been, but was unaware of this and was going to do the interment the regular way. Dean patiently stayed on the phone until I was on cemetery grounds to confirm that I wanted "The Wilbert Way". Once I did confirm that, he made sure it was done. The cemetery also charged me a $215.00 dollar charge for not buying the casket and vault from them. I asked Dean about this and he quickly responded by notifying the cemetery that this was against the federal trade commission guidelines. My money was quickly refunded, and I did not have to do or say anything. I cannot thank Funeral Depot's Dean for making a sorrowful time in my life a comfortable task. Sincerely, Daniel C. Schaefer ======================================================================
Dear Dean, =========================================================================================
Dear Dean and Funeral Depot Staff, ========================================================================================= Dear Dean, I was fortunate to have discovered your website on the internet. I wanted my father to have a decent burial but could not afford it. My family suggested a wooden casket which I was totally against it because it cost too much in the funeral home. Well, to make a long story short, everyone was pleased with the purchase I made. I told all of my relatives about my internet purchase and they could not believe that such a transaction could take place. Of course, I explained the process and they all promised to look on the internet for Funeral Depot for their lost loved ones. Sincerely P.A. Riley ====================================================================== Hello
In
March of 2001, I had the unfortunate experience of having to plan my
uncle's funeral. The first close death in my family, it is by far the most
painful thing I've ever had to do. Since his death was a work related
accident, I had some time to do research to help keep the costs of his
funeral down as a financial burden was the last thing my aunt needed.
Best
of all, he was confident that their pricing would be the best around, but
let me do the research on my own to prove it. Once I did and selected the
casket models my aunt preferred, Joe quoted my Funeral Depot's prices
first- he didn't try to beat whatever price I got - he honestly gave his
pricing first which said a lot about the way they do business. The
mortuary we selected knew I was price comparing and also said they were
confident that their (the mortuary's) prices were the best, but to give
them a chance to beat the 'best' price I found. Funeral Depot.com's prices
came in on average $300-$400 less per casket (not including what we saved
on no tax or shipping!). The mortuary immediately said, "I'll give it to
you for $100 less!" at which I couldn't agree as I told them they had the
opportunity to offer me their best price which obviously wasn't. |
